Dr. Geeta Jotwani has a PhD in Medical Sciences from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. She has also received a specialized training in Bioethics and Ethics Committee Administration under a WHO-NIH Program at University of Washington Olympia, Washington, USA (certified WIRB Professional: (Western Institutional Review Board). She is currently working with Indian Council of Medical Research, an Apex advisory body under Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
She has over 30 years of experience in biomedical research and management. She has research experience in various fields like infectious diseases, developmental neurobiology and cancer genomics.
Since 2001, she has been involved with the management of biomedical research and policy making for upcoming bio-technologies under the aegis of ICMR. She is governing the progress of emergent research areas like Genomics & Molecular Medicine, Stem Cell Research & Therapy (SCRT), Nanomedicine, Gene Therapy and Immunotherapy in India. She is instrumental in defining national (Indian) guidelines governing research and development/medical practices in various innovative fields of science and technology.
She is an integral member of national (Indian) and International committees like National Apex Committee for Stem Cell Research and Therapy (NAC-SCRT), Nano Mission Council of India, Institutional Committee for Stem Cell Research (IC-SCR), Board Member of Western Institutional Review Board, Olympia, Washington, USA, Biotechnology, Food and Agriculture Sectional Committee, Nanotechnology Sectional Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards.
