Indian Medical Association (IMA) is a pan-India voluntary organization of doctors practicing modern system of medicine. It has a membership of 2,60,000 doctors spread over 30 State Branches and 1765 local branches in almost all the districts of India.
IMA has complimented many Government Programmes like Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme, Anemia Free India, Leprosy Eradication, Child Survival and reduction of Infant Mortalities and has provided all assistance and expertise to ensure making healthcare delivery accessible, affordable, qualitative and timely for all. IMA branches run voluntary blood banks collecting and distributing nearly 1 lakh units, bio-medical waste disposal units, palliative care units for cancer patients, free immunization centres and Reproductive & Child Health (RCH) Centers.
Besides imparting continuous training to its members in meeting various newer health challenges, IMA also articulates its views on policy matters and legislations pertaining to health.
Besides coordination with agencies and authorities at the national level, IMA coordinates with various International agencies to carry out various health related activities. IMA conducts such activities with International health related agencies like WHO, UNFPA, GFATM and Unicef etc. Our various projects have been successfully executed by us yielding desired results.
IMA has been instrumental in many Public related international health projects like Child Sexual Abuse, “No to Sex Selection”, Medical examination of victims of Rape, implementation of RNTCP project & Contraceptive Updates etc.
